US Federal Goverment Shutdown

The U.S. government shutdown went into effect at 12:01 a.m Tuesday October 1 for the first time in 17 years.  The US financial year ended on 30 September, and politicians on Capitol Hill have failed to agree a new budget for the 2013-2014 financial year.

Some Government services will be disrupted. Hundreds of thousands of workers at non-essential services, from Pentagon employees to rangers in national parks, were told to take an unpaid holiday. Reports are coming in from various locations concerning effects of this slowdown in their locations.  For instance, FDA in Chicago area has 45% of their people furloughed.  Various government websites, USTR for Tariff and others are shutdown.  The CBP website currently shows that it is not being actively managed.  Please note this may have an impact on import and export shipments.

RCL Agencies will continue to monitor the situation and report further updates once available
