The Journal of Commerce reports that the ILA and the USMX will resume contract negotiations covering workers at 14 U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast port. The last talk broke down Aug. 22.
The International Longshoremen’s Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance will hold talks under the authority of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service the week of Sept. 17.
According to the FMCS website, for security reasons the location and content of the negotiations are not disclosed. The current contract which is due to expire the Sept. 30, covers more than 14,500 jobs at ports from Maine to Texas.
