Strike at the Port of Portland is Averted !

The Oregon Live magazine reports that after  eleventh-hours negotiations union security officers and the Port of Portland reached an agreement and averted a strike on November 24th.  The  State government’s top mediator helped the two sides reach agreement on a contract that had eluded them during 17 months of intermittent negotiations.

The  contract reached, which must be ratified by union members and formally approved by the Port Commission, ensures that Local 28 workers will provide security services at the Port’s marine terminals until the contract expires in June 2015.
