As the RZD-Partner reports, St. Petersburg Metro will invest billions of rubles into energy network modernization.
Andrey Pavlov, St. Petersburg Deputy Head said in an interview that a new line is to be opened which will require 396 new-generation cars. Due to this growth, modernization of the energy network will be needed.
The new technology saves energy however it also raises the requirements for extremely heavy network use.
Mr. Pavlov added that “at the present time the metro is evaluating costs of network design and rebuild. These are going to be substantial several-billion costs”.
