Klaipeda and Major U.S. Ports Sign Cooperation Agreement

Latvian news agency LETA reports  a bilateral cooperation agreement between the port of Klaipėda and the port of New Orleans was signed recently.  According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania, the signing parties committed to exchange trade statistics and help to disseminate information regarding port activities. In addition, a cooperation and partnership agreement was also signed between Klaipėda State Seaport and port of Houston.

Vice-Minister of Lithuania and executive managers of Klaipėda Seaport underlined that Lithuania expects that U.S. cargo flowing through Klaipėda Seaport will continue to grow,  and that the first liquefied natural gas terminal- which will start to operate at the end of this year- will begin receiving liquefied gas from all over the world, including the  United States of America.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Arijandas Sliupas stated that  partnership between Klaipeda and US ports will open exciting new export opportunities for Lithuania, and  export and trade companies operating in the United States will have the opportunity to learn more about the potential of Lithuanian transport infrastructure.
