French refineries and ports continued to face disruptions Wednesday as the strike called by the CGT union against changes in labor legislation entered its second week and is also spreading into other sectors, including the railways, metro and air traffic control.
Striking transportation workers have halted nearly half of French rail services. Around half of the country’s trains were cancelled on Wednesday as workers from railway operator SNCF launched their eighth strike in three months, this time saying they will continue until demands for better pay and conditions are met.
As if strikes were not enough, France is under heavy rains, especially in the North and Center of the country. The rain has impacted trains and roads in the regions of Loire Valley, Alsace, Chablis, and the Paris surrounding area.
Please be advised that delayed deliveries and disruptions in shipping could occur as a result of the strike and the weather. . RCL Agencies will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates once available.
