Houston Ship Channel Remains Closed

Please be advised that  the Houston Ship channel remains closed for ongoing clean up from a collision/spill that occurred on  March 22nd when a barge carrying 900,000 gallons collided with a ship.
The Unified Command intends to conduct over flights over the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay on Tuesday March 25 to assess waterway conditions for potential channel reopening.
Once vessel transits are allowed, the location of gross decontamination / inspection stations for inbound vessels will provided during VTS Check-In.  Vessels currently in port will be assessed for oil staining prior to departure

Suape Express (ANSG) and St. Louis Express are currently at anchor awaiting transit and berth.

Officials say it could take three days to get ship channel traffic/commerce back to normal. As  Coast Guard Capt. Brian Penoyer said “the cleanup operations progress is to the point that there is minimal danger of contamination to the commercial maritime traffic and allowing limited transit during daylight hours”.

Please be guided accordingly. RCL Agency will provide additional updates as they become available.
