According to the press-service of JSC “NC “KTZ”, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov attended the inauguration ceremony which was held at the GEVO diesel engine facility. The facility will be commissioned in December 2014. The Prime Minister acknowledged the contribution of the railway in the state program of forced industrial-innovative development of the economy.
The facility will produce 300 diesel engines rated at 2200 to 4500 kW and nominal rotation speed of 950 to 1050 rpm. It will manufacture the family of 8, 12 and 16 cylinder engines that will be used for OEM Evolution locomotives manufactured in Kazakhstan, modernized 2TE116 locomotives and marine industry.
Export prospects for the company associated with the supply of products to the markets of all countries of the former Soviet Union and Mongolia. Gradual localization of production of engine components is expected in Kazakhstan. In 2015 the local content will reach 8%, and by 2020 it will be increased to 51%.
According to the President of the company “GE Transportation” Lorenzo Simonelli , the new product is very economical in terms of fuel consumption and does not produce harmful pollutionl. In the future it will be used on locomotives and delivered to the regions of Kazakhstan and CIS countries
