Recently there has been an increase in random Customs inspections at US/Canadian boarders on export containers moving from the USA to a Canadian port of exit. One item Customs is checking is if the ITN number provided has been previously entered. If the ITN provided covers multiple containers, there is an increased chance of one or more containers being delayed by Customs, as their system will show the ITN as previously used. Many customs inspections are done at night, which means issues cannot be resolved until the next day.
When shipping multiple containers under one booking, we suggest you provide one ITN number per container to avoid this issue.
