According to BBC News, an agreement has been reached by the OCU and the harbor employers on Tuesday, November 4th. As Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa declared , “The negotiating team has voted to approve a contract that they’ll take to their members”.
The mayor also confirmed that the shipping authorities would not outsource staff. The agreement is welcomed by the union spokesman Craig Merrilees. No details about the terms of the deal were released, though a statement from the union said it had won new protections preventing jobs from being outsourced.
